So you want to read an Epic?

If your idea of a long read is the Sunday comics, you can stop here. If on the other hand you like a nice long story then read on. Here are a few of the longer series from my library that I've continued to enjoy for many years.

Some of these series are still being continued today so this list is almost certainly out of date.

What got me thinking was that I recently obtained a copy of a book called "The House with the Clock in it's Walls". This was the first 'real' book I can remember reading back in 3rd grade. I remember this book being "incredibly long" and "massive" taking me an entire week to finish. Much to my surprise, when the book finally arrived, it was only 180 pages.

As far as the largest 'single' book I know of it has to be Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard. Among the many reasons the movie sucked was the director trying to cram the 1,100 page story into a single 2 hour movie. Yes, you can read this book in a day. But, it makes for a very, very long day.

The criteria is a bit vague, but it has to be a series I've read, mostly by the same author, and have a somewhat continuous story line.
